Professional Experience
Art has practiced law with Walter & Haverfield since 1951. He was formerly a senior partner of the firm, served on its Administration Committee, and served as the firm's Managing Partner for a term of three (3) years.
Art has represented a number of closely-held businesses as corporate counsel, advising them on such diverse matters as business structuring and restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, tax and benefits planning, employment policies, legislative and regulatory compliance, contracts, public and private financings and litigation of all kinds.
He counsels business owners, executives and professionals on a broad range of personal, financial and tax matters related to wealth management and the eventual disposition of assets. This work includes the preparation of comprehensive estate plans and related trusts, business-succession plans, healthcare directives and various powers of attorney. By thoroughly understanding the objectives and special circumstances of the client and his or her family, Art seeks to design a legal "umbrella" that will preserve capital, avoid unnecessary taxes, anticipate future needs and provide peace of mind.
