Professional Experience

Bonnie Finley is an attorney with the firm’s Litigation Practice Group.  She is experienced in all aspects of commercial litigation matters, specializing in contract and business litigation, shareholder disputes, banking and lending litigation, employment actions, construction disputes, and litigation between health care providers.  In addition to litigating both jury and bench trials in federal and state courts, Bonnie has successfully argued appellate cases in both the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Eighth District Court of Appeals.

Areas of Emphasis

Bonnie's significant commercial litigation experience includes:

  • Defending public, private, and closely-held corporations, and their principals, from claims of breach of contract, fraud, and tortuous interference with business relations

  • Prosecuting shareholder derivative actions and direct shareholder claims for fraudulent inducement, intentional and negligent misrepresentation, breach of employment contract, unjust enrichment, and breach of fiduciary duty

  • Defending lending institutions in all types of business litigation, including breach of contract and fraud-related claims

  • Litigating real estate and construction contract disputes relating to commercial and residential properties

  • Prosecuting mortgage brokers under the Federal Civil RICO statute and related common-law claims

  • Defending construction contractors and suppliers for wrongful death, negligence, and negligent hiring/retention claims

  • Representing lending institutions and builders in construction actions and loan participation agreement disputes

  • Defending hospitals and other medical groups against claims for interference with contract, breach of bylaws, and violations of the peer review statutes
