Professional Experience

Bob joined Walter & Haverfield in 1970 and, after gaining valuable experience in a general practice, he soon specialized in the estate planning area. But unlike so many estate planners, he has also specialized in the administration of both probate estates and trusts. This experience has afforded Bob the insight into the pitfalls of over complicated or inefficient estate plans. With more than 30 years experience in administration of probate estates and trusts, Bob has successfully administered over 550 probate estates during his career including modest estates as well as multi-million dollar estates with multiple complex probate and tax issues

Areas Of Emphasis

  • A family attorney, Bob provides counsel to a wide range of business owners, executives, professionals and their spouses in such matters as estate and tax planning, wills, family trusts, probate litigation and estate administration. In addition, he has represented a number of clients in domestic relations cases, especially those involving the complex division of marital assets. A substantial portion of his practice serves clients who also use the firm as their business or professional legal counsel. Bob has planned estates using a variety of estate planning techniques including credit shelter and marital deduction planning, disclaimer planning, QTIP planning, Qualified Domestic Trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, and family limited partnerships. He also counsels families regarding guardianships and Medicaid planning.

Professional & Community Associations

  • Bob served as a councilman in the City of Berea where he was active for many years. He also served on the Charter Review Committee in Strongsville and is on the Board of Directors for Teen Court, an alternative to juvenile court for minors.
