Walter | Haverfield and First Merit Sponsor Successful Tax Seminar
For the first time, financial and estate planners, attorneys, certified public accountants and insurance professionals in Northeast Ohio did not have to travel far to attend a national tax seminar.
The Great Lakes Federal Tax Institute was held in Independence, May 12-13. Similar national seminars of this type are usually held in places like New York, Miami or San Francisco.
“We felt that if we held a national tax seminar in Cleveland,” explained Gary A. Zwick , an attorney at Cleveland-based Walter & Haverfield law firm and organizer of the event, “that its central location, affordable price, and the chance to see some of the country’s most prestigious practitioners would draw a sizeable number of people from the region.”
“The seminar was even more successful than we imagined,” Zwick said. “We had 200 participants from 10 states in attendance.”
Zwick said the two-day seminar focused on creative tax planning ideas for closely-held businesses and highnet-worth individuals, as well as gave practice guidance to the professionals attending.
“We see this becoming an annual event in Cleveland,” Zwick said.
The seminar was sponsored by Walter | Haverfield LLP and First Merit Bank and was coordinated by Lorman Education Services.
