Clients swept into the arcane and often frustrating world of Bankruptcy Court after a customer, supplier, or business partner seeks to liquidate or restructure often turn to Walter & Haverfield for guidance and representation.  We understand the nuanced issues implicated in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 proceedings for both individuals and businesses, and can help creditors best protect their ability to recover from the Debtor.

Outside of the bankruptcy realm, we help creditors obtain judgments against debtors, and then pursue collection of those judgments through garnishments, seizures, foreclosures, and the like.  We pride ourselves on doing so with maximum efficiency and keeping costs reasonable in light of the potential for recovery from the debtor.

Recent accomplishments of this group include:

  • Negotiating the resolution of preferential transfer and fraudulent conveyance claims brought by bankrupt debtor against local manufacturing client.

  • Successfully pursuing claim for recovery of legal expenses incurred by petitioners for an involuntary bankruptcy.

  • Recovered business debts for several clients including provider of construction materials, fire restoration company and other businesses.
