Since shortly after Walter & Haverfield was founded in 1932, our attorneys have been providing general and special legal counsel to government bodies, and currently offers a wide range of services to municipalities, townships, school boards, special taxing districts and regional agencies. Many of the firm's Municipal Law Group members serve as law directors or assistant law directors for northern Ohio communities. While committed to preventing unnecessary litigation, they are particularly skilled in the courtroom and have successfully argued precedent-setting cases at all levels of the state and federal court system.
Our attorneys share their thorough understanding of issues facing public entities, including zoning and land use; labor relations and collective bargaining issues; cable and telecommunications matters; administrative law and procedures; equal employment practices; environmental, real estate, and construction law; self-insurance pools; eminent domain; and public funding, tax abatements and economic development. They have defended public officials and civil rights actions, drafted legislation, regulations, charters and charter amendments, and have handled prosecutions of all kinds.
