Walter & Haverfield has provided general and special legal
counsel to governmental bodies since the firm's founding in
1932. Our public law attorneys represent several Ohio communities
as law directors, assistant law directors and prosecutors. We
serve as special counsel on various public law issues to municipalities,
counties, townships, special development districts, metropolitan
housing authorities, school boards and other political subdivisions
throughout the state of Ohio and in other states. Our goal is
always to prevent needless litigation, but we are fully prepared
to represent our clients aggressively at any level of the judicial
process and we have been involved in many precedent-setting
public law cases decided by the Ohio Supreme Court and two United
States Supreme Court cases.
We provide counsel and representation in such areas as:
- Public Employment Issues
- Prosecutions
- Zoning and Land Use
- Drafting of Legislation and Regulations
- Defense of Civil Rights Actions
